City alleys are often abandoned. Alleys are also often a negative space in the city, where slums, crime, and illegal activities occur. However, city alleys make up more than 70% of the city’s structure; therefore, their existence has the potential to become a city public space, where public life takes place. This city alley revitalization project in Suryakencana’s Chinatown aims to restore the alley as a unique and attractive city public space, to bring back alleys as a place for the people.
