BATULICIN 2045: BIOCONNECTICITY
The Municipality of Tanah Bumbu initiated the urban development and revitalisation project to respond to the threat of rapid urbanisation, climate change, and biodiversity loss in the wetland city of Batulicin in South Kalimantan. It featured a critical approach to sustainability. The project demonstrated an adaptive strategy for urban resilience by promoting bio-corridors, fostering human-nature co-existence, preserving water culture and generating an environmentally-friendly economy. NUA was granted Merit Award for Excellence 2022 by the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP) for initiating the ideas for the project.
