MERATUS GEOPARK DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMING

Project Overview

Meratus Geopark has 36 geosites derived from uplifted ophiolite rocks, which are now scattered in the form of caves, waterfalls, lakes, beaches, rocks, and hills. Managing a Geopark increases the values of the four pillars, namely the pillars of conservation, education, economy, and governance. The green economy is the direct approach, where tourism-oriented geosites must be followed by preservation, education, and community development. Geopark Meratus will be a new showcase in Indonesia on managing geoparks comprehensively, encouraging the four pillars.
