On September 7-8th, 2019, Citieslab (NUA’s research and capacity building program) in-collaboration with IAP and ISOCARP Institute hosted a Global Professional Planning, which is a training and capacity building program that presented international experts in the field of urban planning and design.
The two-day training was attended by 16 participants from within and outside the country. This training was held in a classroom format, featuring internationally experienced instructors: Prof. Ali A. Raouf (Head of R&D at the Department of Urban Planning Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar); Dhiru A. Thadani (AIA, APA, FCNU, ISOCARP, author of The Language of Towns and Cities); Jens Aerts (Urban Planning Specialist, UNICEF, US); Pedro B. Ortiz (Senior Consultant, NYU Marron Institute of Urban Management Senior Fellow, US, former elected Major for Madrid’s Central District); and Bernardus Djonoputro (Chair of IAP, Key Urban Planning Expert).
The training also intended to bring an international perspective to Indonesia by connecting global experts to local professionals in the field of urban planning. Within two days, the participants could gain benefits and knowledge through the discussion on Metropolitan Management & Planning themes; Measuring City Livability; Sustainable New Urbanism, Planning & Urban Design Approach for Vibrant, Resilient, and Inclusive Waterfronts; and Urban Planning Principles for Child-Responsive and Sustainable Development.
